The A-Arts Dance organization is proud to announce that Dancers can complete a Hip Hop Funk, Modern Contemporary & Ballet Teachers Certificate and follow the A-Arts Syllabus. All dancers that would like to
become teachers can complete this certificate and become members of the A-Arts Dance Organization.

Requirements to apply for the Dance Teachers Certificate:

  1. Teachers/Dancers need to be 18yrs or above to apply
  2. Teachers/Dancers need to have 4-5 years formal dance training experience
  3. Teachers can also use a dancer to complete his/her exam and send in a video of the dancer, for the audition.

Benefits:

  1. Teachers can open their own studio(s) and will have a syllabus to follow throughout the year and years to come.
  2. Teachers will be members of the A-Arts (Dance) Organization.
  3. Teachers will receive a Hip Hop Funk and Modern syllabus books, music and DVDs on all routines and updates on all exam work each year (if
    affiliation fees are up to date).
  4. Dancers will receive a registered certificate under the A-Arts Organization for completing her/his exam.

Requirements to complete Hip Hop Funk Teachers exam:

The hip hop funk syllabus is divided into two sections:
First section: Entry level, Level 1 – Level 6 &
Second section: Level 7 – Level 12, Advance teachers

To become a teacher of the Hip Hop Funk A-Arts organization you need to complete:

  • Level 6 to be able to teach the first section
  • Advance teachers to teach the 2nd section

Requirements to complete the Modern Contemporary Teachers exam:

The Modern (Contemporary) syllabus is divided into two sections:
First section: Tiny Tots, grade 1 – 6 &
Second section: Grade 7 – Grade 12, Advance teachers

To become a teacher of the Modern Contemporary A-Arts organization you need to complete:

  • Grade 6 to be able to teach the first section
  • Advance teachers to teach the 2nd section
  • Teachers need to have a basic understanding of certain Acrobatic tricks.

Requirements to complete the Ballet Teachers exam:

  1. Pre-Grades:
    Pre-Grades consists out of Tiny Tots 1 tot Elementary.
    For the Practical, the Teacher must know the Pre-Elementary and Elementary exams. You will be expected to count and demonstrate the 2 Pre-Grades Levels.
    Throughout the Practical Exam questions will be asked to the teacher about terminology, breakdown of steps, and anatomy.
  2. Grades:
    Grades consist out of Grade 1 to Grade 6.
    For the Practical, the Teacher must know the Grade 5 and Grade 6 exams. You will be expected to count and demonstrate the 2 Grades.
    Throughout the Practical Exam questions will be asked to the teacher about terminology, breakdown of steps, and anatomy.
    The Teacher/Dance will also be expected to complete 5 Lesson Plans and they will be asked to present the Lesson Plans during their Practical Exam.
  3. Majors Syllabi:
    When your Grades Teacher Practical Exam is completed, and you have received a Successful you also qualify to teach both the Major and Pointes Syllabi.
    Please note the Major and Pointes Syllabi is sold separately per Level.

Modern & Hip Hop Funk
When signing up to complete the exam dance teachers will receive their
own syllabus books, music and DVD’s of each grade or level. Please note
that all above is also available on Zoom.

Grade 6 / Level 6 (Modern or Hip Hop Funk) – R2500
Advance Dance Teachers (Modern or Hip Hop Funk) – R2800
Teachers will not be allowed to enter dancers for exams if the examination(s)
has not been completed.

    Getting started and important notes:
    • Set your exam date. The examiner will be set by the organization.
    • It is important that the teacher check her/his work with the organization before completing his/her exam and that all work is according to the DVD’s and Written syllabus.
    • It is advisable to check your work with a registered A-Arts Teacher.
    • Teachers have now the opportunity to study form their own homes or studios.
    • Teachers can start teaching dancers or open their own studios while completing this exam (ONLY THE GRADES/LEVELS AS SET BY EACH EXAM CAN BE TAUGHT).
    • Teachers are more than welcome to use a dancer to complete their exam.
    • Teachers can also complete their exam online.
    • Travel & Accommodation cost IS NOT INCLUDED for examiner AND must be paid by the applicant (depending on province/location) when completing their exam.
    • Once the certificate is completed or the applicant teach the syllabus there will be an annual active member affiliation fee of R750
    • To stay an active member and receive all updates of the syllabus (free of charge) teacher must enter pupils for exams yearly (please check requirements of when entering exams).
    • Fees are not refundable!

    A Copyright Dance Agreement will accompany your application form. Videos, Music and the Written Syllabus may not be distributed, copied or spread by the applicant for any reason and remains the property of the A- Arts Organization.
